The POLKA apple tree belongs to the autumn varieties. It was created by crossing McIntosch Wijcik x Golden Delicious. It also impresses with its narrow columnar growth. The apple tree is popular with growers who are short of space and can also be grown in containers on a balcony or terrace.
The POLKA apple variety grows healthy, compact and has a typical columnar shape with a height of 2.5-3m. It grows on M26 rootstock which is a rootstock suitable for varieties with poor growth. It is sufficiently hardy and produces an early and high yield and very good fruit quality.
The POLKA apple tree flowers in May. A pollinator in the form of another apple tree is suitable for the best possible harvest.
POLKA apples are yellow in colour with a red to brownish-red cheek. The flesh is crisp and firm. The taste of the POLKA apple is sweet and sour, mostly sweet, juicy and aromatic. It is suitable for direct consumption or processing. Apples contain many vitamins and minerals, so they should not be missing in any diet.
The fruit of the POLKA apple ripens at the end of September.
