Gooseberry (Grossularia uva-crispa) HINNONMAKI GELB

Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Gelb' is a medium early variety suitable for growing in all areas. It is highly resistant to frost and American powdery mildew.

The fruits are large, yellow in colour, with a very pleasant, juicy and sweet flavour. They are ideal for direct consumption and for further processing. The 'Hinnonmaki Gelb' variety is characterised by regular and high yields. Harvesting takes place in mid-July.  Gooseberries prefer a bright site or partial shade; direct sun can damage the fruit. The soil should be moist, calcareous and rich in nutrients. Mulching the soil surface with grass clippings or leaves is recommended. It is important to avoid waterlogging and drought, which are detrimental to the plant.

Lateral wood from the previous year is the fruit-bearing wood for the following year. It is recommended to remove old and dry shoots after harvesting.
