Plum 'Nenka' (*Prunus domestica* 'Nenka') is a Ukrainian variety bred at the Mliivsky Institute of Horticulture as a seedling from open pollination of the variety 'Oda'.
The medium fast-growing trees reach a height of up to 4 metres. The crown is pyramidal when young, oval and spreading at maturity. The variety is self-pollinating and flowers profusely with small white flowers at early dates.
The plum has large fruits weighing 45-55 g and are barrel-shaped with a fine seam. The skin is purple-burgundy with a bluish waxy coating. The flesh is yellow-green, firm, with a pleasant sweet and sour taste. The stone is small and easily separable from the flesh.
The 'Nenka' variety is highly resistant to fungal diseases and frost. It requires a sunny site with fertile, humid and moist soil. It produces abundantly and regularly.
The use of Myrobalan rootstock ensures strong tree growth and is suitable for growing in a variety of soil types, including drier and wetter soils, and in poorer climatic conditions. Myrobalan has a deep root system that anchors the trees well, tolerates soils with higher calcium content and has good health and above average hardiness.
The fruit is suitable for direct consumption, as well as for processing into jams, compotes or drying. Thanks to their taste, they are also appreciated in confectionery.
