'Colin®' is a modern American Haskap variety (bred in Oregon by the renowned breeder Maxine M. Thompson) that is legally protected by Plant Breeders' Rights (PBR). It is characterized by exceptionally strong, vigorous growth and firm fruits, making it an ideal choice for home gardens, commercial orchards, and the processing industry.

Key advantages of the variety:

• Extremely rapid growth: The bush produces very vigorously growing shoots, with annual growth reaching up to 1 meter. The plant thus reaches its full size very quickly and enters bearing early.
• Excellent shelf life: A massive advantage is the outstanding post-harvest durability of the fruits. They are suitable for longer storage and withstand transport very well.
• High frost resistance: The plant is fully winter-hardy and easily withstands demanding climatic conditions.
• Pollination: The variety is cross-pollinated. For a heavy crop, it strictly requires planting alongside another Haskap variety that blooms at the same time.

Fruit and Harvest

• Appearance: Medium-sized fruits (2 – 3 g) with an elliptical, elongated, and cylindrical shape with a rounded tip. They have a dark blue color with an attractive waxy bloom.
• Flavor and flesh: The flesh is firm, juicy, and aromatic. The taste is pleasantly sweet, harmonious, and very delicious.
• Harvest period: A later variety, with fruits ripening in early July.
• Utility: Versatile. An excellent dessert variety for fresh consumption, but highly valued for processing (jams, juices, freezing) due to its firmness.
