The 'Podolski' dogwood (Cornus mas 'Podolski') is a traditional Polish variety that was discovered in the historic region of Podolia and planted in the early 20th century in the park near the manor house in Bolestraszyce. This variety is characterised by high fertility, reliable growth and excellent fruit for processing.
The fruit ripens late, from the second half of September to mid-October, with uneven ripening. They are medium-sized, oval, red-cherry in colour, with an average weight of 3,1 g. Their taste is slightly sweet and sour, with a high content of vitamin C (38 %), sugars (10 %) and acids (2,8 %).
The variety is extremely productive and long-lived - older trees can produce up to 100 kg of fruit per year. It is particularly popular in the southern and eastern regions of Poland, where it has proved to be a reliable variety with high quality fruit.
The fruits are ideal for processing - they are suitable for making liqueurs, syrups, jams, compotes and fruit preserves. Thanks to their distinctive flavour and high vitamin C content, they are also suitable for fermenting and preparing traditional fruit products.
Podolski' is an excellent choice for those looking for a variety with high yields, excellent fruit and a wide range of processing applications.
