- The NORTH BLUE blueberry seedling is a variety native to Canada. It belongs to the low-growing blueberries, it is also suitable for growing in containers, pots. It is an early variety that produces large tasty fruits.
- NORTH BLUE is one of the low blueberries, it grows compactly and grows up to 100cm tall at maturity. NORTH BLUE is a self-pollinating variety, yet it is advisable to have a pollinator of another blueberry variety
- It is important to plant shrubs whose flowering dates will be the same (the maximum number of flowers of both varieties must be open at the same time), which will allow more efficient pollination. Remember that flowering dates are not fixed - they are largely dependent on the weather at any given time of year. Nevertheless, we can determine quite accurately the order in which the different varieties will flower, and as many years of research have shown, the average percentage of fruit set is up to 30-50% higher when pollinated with foreign pollen (from a different variety) than when pollinated with pollen from the same variety. In addition, the quality of the fruit is much better.
- It has large, sweet, blue-coloured fruits, 1 cm in diameter. Yield per bush at maturity is approximately 2-3kg.
- It ripens in late June/early July. NORTH BLUE begins to fruit profusely 4-5 years after planting. At this time we make adequate pruning to allow us to harvest as many fruits as possible. Pruning of vigorous varieties is limited to removal of damaged, frozen and oldest shoots. It will improve the flow of light to the central part of the bush. With rational pruning, the bush will produce many shoots each year of varying
